Hyun June Cho
Hyun June Cho is a Senior at Winston Churchill High School. He has been in the Trombone Studio of Mr. Ken Wolff for 6 years. Since starting trombone when he was in the 4th grade, Hyun June has been playing trombone as a member of several orchestras, bands, and ensembles, including Capital Wind Symphony, World Youth Wind Symphony (Interlochen, MI), Mid Atlantic Trombone Choir, Maryland Classic Youth Orchestra (Philharmonic Orchestra), Young Artists of America Orchestra, Maryland All-State Orchestra, Montgomery County All County Band, and Winston Churchill High School Advanced Band. He has been participating in the Washington Brass Institute Boot Camp as well as the International Arts Camp at Interlochen, MI, for 4 years. Hyun June has been awarded the MSMTA Advanced Theory Award in 2022. In addition, He has a passion for music, and he has been taking piano lessons for 8 years at Dr. Jeongseon Choi Piano Studio. As a soloist, Hyun June has been awarded in many competitions, such as the 2021 Young Artist Award Competition (2nd place), 2020 YMIC Metropolitan Music Festival (1st place), 2019 YMIC International Competition (1st place), and 2019 AAMS International Competition (1st place). Hyun June was selected as the finalist in the 2021-2022 MTNA National Competition and received the 2nd place award. He played a trombone concerto with Londontowne Symphony Orchestra in March 2022 and Montgomery Symphonic Orchestra in June 2022. Hyun June is a master of Taekwondo, holding a 4th degree (dan) of blackbelt.
